You can now upload vendor quotes in Excel format directly into BidLevel. No PDF conversion needed. Drag and drop the file like you normally would, and BidLevel will extract pricing across the entire workbook, including multi-sheet files. Once processed, you can review the original Excel file inside BidLevel using the Side-by-Side Review screen.
What this helps with
Vendor quotes that arrive as spreadsheets (common for schedules, rates, or long BOQs)
Faster ingest without the “save as PDF” detour
A clearer review loop by checking the extracted results next to the original file
Step by step:
1) Upload the Excel file
Open your package in BidLevel.
Drag and drop your Excel quote into the upload area (same place you’d upload a PDF).
Wait for processing to finish.
What BidLevel does:
Extracts data across the workbook (including multiple sheets)
Builds the extracted view for in-app review
2) Review the extracted results
Open the Side-by-Side Review screen.
View the original Excel file alongside the extracted output.
Check line items and totals, and validate anything that looks off.
3) Continue your normal workflow
Once you’ve reviewed the extracted output, keep moving through your comparison workflow as usual.
Known limitation
Source mapping is not supported for Excel uploads
For Excel files, BidLevel does not currently support source mapping (e.g. clicking a line item and jumping to the exact originating cell/range). If source mapping is critical to your workflow, we want to hear it.
Workaround (for now):
If you need source mapping, upload a PDF version of the quote instead.
FAQs
What Excel formats are supported?
Excel uploads are supported for vendor quotes in Excel format. (If you’re uploading something odd like a CSV exported from a tool, try it, but expect you may need a quick sanity check in review.)
Does BidLevel extract multiple sheets?
Yes. BidLevel extracts across the entire workbook, including multi-sheet files.
Do I need to convert Excel to PDF first?
No. Upload the Excel file directly.
Where do I review the original Excel file?
In the Side-by-Side Review screen, where the original file is shown next to the extracted output.
Can I use source mapping with Excel uploads?
Not currently. Source mapping is not supported for Excel uploads.
Why am I not seeing the data I expected?
Common reasons (quick checklist):
The quote data is in an image (not real cells)
The file is heavily formatted in a way that makes tables ambiguous
Key data is spread across many tabs or mixed layouts
If something looks off, use Side-by-Side Review to validate, and send us feedback with the file and what you expected to see.
Is my whole workbook processed, including hidden tabs?
BidLevel processes the workbook. If you’re using hidden sheets for internal calcs or notes, it’s worth checking the output in Side-by-Side Review to confirm what was picked up.
